The AFRIKA KOMMT!-experience lives on
From alumni to partners: With their knowledge and contacts the junior executives, who participated in the AFRIKA KOMMT! programme have become intermediaries of economic cooperation between Germany and their home-countries.
The exchange between the alumni as well as with representatives of GIZ and the German host companies are therefore most valuable. That exchange is being fueled by various means:
GIZ already has a vigorous alumni network with active focus points in its partner countries. The participants of the AFRIKA KOMMT programme will be incorporated in this network and will be able to give vital impulses of their own.
The more than 120 alumni have formed regional alumni clubs in West, East and Southern Africa. The alumni clubs coordinate the activities of the alumni in their home countries.
A refresher course, which takes place in Africa or Germany about a year after the advanced training, offers the opportunity for personal exchange, to cultivate contacts to the host-companies and as well as to report on experiences of professional and personal integration back home. Also alumni from other programme years are invited to enhance the networking among the alumni.
Further, the alumni are actively engaged in the current programme year: They share their experiences with the AFRIKA KOMMT! programme as resource persons during the assessment center and participate in the introduction weeks in Germany. In addition, they represent the programme at international business or political events.
