39<\/span>\u00a0fellows,\u00a0<\/span>1<\/span>3<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>countries<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>3 continents<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0at least 5 different time zones<\/span>\u00a0– t<\/span>hese were the\u00a0<\/span>complex yet\u00a0<\/span>fascinating dynamics of the very first week of AFRIKA KOMMT!\u00a0<\/span>9<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>intake<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even in<\/span>\u00a0these<\/span>\u00a0challenging times where we cannot congregate in person, the young professionals who are part of the\u00a0<\/span>202<\/span>0\u00a0<\/span>\u2013\u00a0<\/span>2022\u00a0<\/span>cohort,\u00a0<\/span>successfully took the first steps\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0their one<\/span>-year fellowship journey<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>The program<\/span>me<\/span>\u00a0started as scheduled on 1<\/span>st<\/span>\u00a0February<\/span>\u00a02021<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with sessions hosted\u00a0<\/span>virtually\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>S\u00a0<\/span>Teams<\/span>, bringing together<\/span>\u00a0all<\/span>\u00a0the brilliant young professionals that will be travelling to Germany later in the year to start their practical training in German companies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first week of the program<\/span>me<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>entailed<\/span>\u00a0several introduction sessions that were focused on getting to know each other, deep diving into important topics such as communication\u00a0<\/span>an<\/span>d\u00a0<\/span>culture as well as having some fun together.\u00a0<\/span>There were plenty of claps, laughs, cheers and even tears as different fellows creatively introduced themselves and their countries giving each other a glimpse of who they are, where they come from and what makes them \u2018tick\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The fellows also<\/span>\u00a0beg<\/span>a<\/span>n\u00a0<\/span>their German lessons\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>e<\/span>ar<\/span>nest<\/span>\u00a0and eagerly put to practice their speaking skills during \u2018German only\u2019 conversation sessions with local language tandems.\u00a0<\/span>In addition, they also researched and explored different interesting topics about Germany – the country that will very soon host them for a period of 10<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>months.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Th<\/span>is intake\u00a0<\/span>of AFRIKA KOMMT! is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>indeed\u00a0<\/span>unique<\/span>ly formatted<\/span>\u00a0due to\u00a0<\/span>the current challenging circumstances<\/span>. However, these past two weeks have<\/span>\u00a0truly<\/span>\u00a0shown us that not even a global pandemic can stop people with a common<\/span>\u00a0vision from\u00a0<\/span>its passionate pursuit! We wish the fellows the very best and are certain of the\u00a0<\/span>transformational\u00a0<\/span>impact this one year will have on their lives.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
